The Villa looked extra spooky this Halloween as so many families decked out their yards with fun and scary decorations! The Halloween Decorating Committee had a hard decision in choosing the winners among so many creative yards. The winner was 10927 Decatur Drive, who also won last year and managed to top themselves with the addition of an animatronic creepy clown holding a kid prisoner in a cage. It was the stuff of nightmares, and the whole yard from the curb to the roof looked amazing both during daylight and after dark! Second place went to 4401 Alta Vista Drive, who had a troupe of skeletal pirates rising from a graveyard lit by eerie green light. There were so many other awesome yards that earned honorable mention, and all are listed below:
First Place: 10927 Decatur Drive
Second Place: 4401 Alta Vista Drive
Honorable Mention:
11010 Santa Clara Drive
4505 Andes Drive
4329 Alta Vista Drive
4428 Altura Court
4406 Alta Vista Drive
11112 Byrd Drive
4314 San Juan Drive
4400 San Marcos Drive
Thanks to everybody who participated in the spirit of the season by decorating their yards, handing out candy to trick-or-treaters, and hosting driveway gatherings for the grown-ups. Special thanks to the local businesses who donated prizes for our winners:
Fairfax Ace Hardware
High Side
Woody’s Ice Cream
Next year will be the 10th annual Fairfax Villa Halloween Decorating Contest! We’re looking for volunteers to help with expanding our neighborhood tradition to include a Halloween Parade featuring a promenade of kids and dogs in costumes. Since Halloween will fall on a Saturday in 2026, it will be an ideal day for a parade!

2024 Winners!
Congratulations to the winners of the 8th annual Fairfax Villa Halloween Decorating Contest! The Scariest yard is 10927 Decatur Drive. Jackson created a frightfully entertaining Halloweenscape with a barrage of creepy clowns! The Most Creative yard is 4215 San Juan Drive. Toni decorated the yard with a haunted doll house, and a whole array of spine-tingling sites in honor of her oldest daughter’s birthday, which falls on Halloween! The most Family Friendly yard is 4425 San Carlos Drive. Chrysi and Hector used the timeliness of the 2024 election to bring their skeletons to life waiting in line to cast their votes! Thanks to everyone who decorated their yards in the spirit of the season. There were many honorable mention yard decorations as well. Special thanks to Fairfax Ace Hardware and High Side for donating gift cards to our winners, as well as Woody’s Ice Cream and Commonwealth Dry Goods for donating for contributing to the event.
